Lv 20 in 2 days?<
Before I bought GW I spent alot of times in various forums, and I read a few posts stating you could get a (rp) character to lvl 20 in two days. Now that I have played for a while, I cant see that being possible.
To clarify, the posts did not say 48 hours of playtime, they said two hard days of playing. So, figure thats 30-34 hours, I just cant see making lvl 20 in that time. I have tried just doing coop missions, but those 25 cannot be completed in 32ish hours either. So, were these people full of smelly stuff or what? |

I thought I saw a post that someone did it in 5 hours- basically had a level 20 character or so get them as fast as they could to the mirror image fight. Then they won the mirror image by dodging arrows and using Empathy (a mesmer skill that does damage every time the person attacks).
As for going straight through the game. No idea, nor do I care. |

yea, we've run a few of our members through in a day, getting them to the desert in under 5 hours, then they ascend at about 7 hours, the only hard part is they need to beat the mirror.

Certainly can't with henchies or PUG groups.
But what about if you have lvl 20 guild members w/elite skills etc. willing to help you do the missions and reach ascencion? I don't know if that's even possible tho, since I still haven't asecended and don't know if it's possible to 'hang back' and let the party kill stuff for you etc. But if so, since most missions (just to complete them) don't take very long if you know what you're doing....in terms of hours...maybe? Edit: Too slow w/the posting...heh |

So what do you do for pre-sear ascalon, skip all of the skills quests? Just go for a few of them? You can't be helped during those quests (at least not significantly). The clock is still ticking at that point....
My r/mo16 has about 80 hours on his clock now and is still roaming Divinity Coast. I'll take the slow road to ascension. |

i hit 20 in about 70-90 hours but i also was taking my time expolreing all the pve area's and not doing alot of the misions, so most of my xp cam e from fed ex quests or from killing mobs, i also usually only took a healer monk and a warrior henchie so that the xp and drops would be better, and at time i would also hunt alone, from 14-17 i solo'd outside of gates of kryta for some pretty good xp, even tho it might have been faster to do the missions/quests it was good loot too since it all dropped for me, made like 2k a run usually

i'd say just run through all the missions and primarys, and then level up in the desert.

You can reach 20 easily if you just focus on 1000exp quest and Mission. Also, all Bonus quest in each Mission.

Was near level up, so I took this screenshot just for you :P
Note, it says the character is 16 days old, and it is, and I've been playing it on and off over that time, but otherwise, look at actual playtime. 39 hours and 4 minutes. Tack on 9 hours of sleep between 2 marathon playing days, and you could easily do all of that in 2 days. However, this is an elementalist with AoE skills, so it wasn't too hard to wipe out large amounts of enemies rapidly, using monk skills to keep myself alive as long as it takes to wipe the enemies out using nukes (and nukes is probably never more appropriate than for those AoE fire spells Fireball, Meteor, Meteor Shower, and Fire Rain all to kill my enemies, with Immolate and Conjure Flame for specific targets). Also, although it's not in the picture, that character has 20 platinum and a number of runes. While it IS my second character, my first was a mesmer/monk that could solo as well as a fish can play the flute, and all the money my mesmer has is in storage, seperate from the money my elementalist has. It'd be cheating to mix them up in my ongoing competition to see who can get the most cash in about the same time with a friend, anyway. Pretty much, you just have to know where to go and what to fight to maximize your exp, and yes, it's very feasible. Some classes do it with far more ease than others, though, in different areas. Also, bear in mind, my playtime reflect travelling with a guild member pretty frequently, with a ranger/monk of similar level and experience. If he needed to AFK, I waited for him, and if I needed to AFK, he waited for me, and I stayed logged in. Had that not been the case, you could easily slice a few hours off from time 'wasted' (not that I see it as wasted at all, but for the purpose of exp maxing, it is indeed). Edit: What I ACTUALLY did is actually finding a batch of enemies you can kill over and over again consistently, that you can get to easily, around your level. If they're at least level 16 (Might be 17 >.<), they'll give experience all the way up to 20 from the time you start, so you can use them over and over again. I found about 15 enemies at the start of a mission I found I could kill with ease, worth 120 experience when I started (At that time, I was actually lower level than them), and I just kept it up, even at 19 when they gave 64 exp per kill, and now I'm 20. Other than a farming grind for items, I don't really need them anymore. (although, they've given me 3 golds, and numerous purples and blues with plenty of new items unlocked that I hadn't had before, and about half of the platinum I had). Discovered the spot at about level 15-16, not sure, and I've used it three times, once to level up twice yesterday, once to level up once this morning, and once to level up again just now. It's quite possible to level up to 20 in 2 days, you can go from level 2 or 3 to level 20 just by completing the ascension missions. How you can do this I can't say, just that it can be done and has been.
Remember, completing ascension automatically gives you level 20, so if you can get to that within 2 days or less even, and beat that, then you in essence can level up to 20 in 2 days or less. |

create new character, and take mesmer secondary because its the closest to pre sear ascalon (lady althea, can be changed later)
5 minutes enter academy at level 1 and do the pvp and the small quest 5 minutes have guildmates run you through yaks, beacons, LA. 1.5 hours run to sanctum cay from LA 1 hour do sanctum cay mission, end up in amnoon 30 minutes run to augury from amnoon. 15 minutes (at most) run to 3 trials. complete them all in 1 run (easy with a good guild) 1.5 hours fight mirror image (hard part) 1 minute easy! heavily reliant on guildmates. |

On a side not, I don't think having someone skip you to ascension counts as the "hard playing" the topic creator is looking for in his question. Someone else's work doesn't count as your own. (Not that I'm bashing people who skip to ascension, as I wish someone would do the same for my 3rd through 6th characters so I can unlock all of the skills without so much repetitiveness >.< Just making a point that it's not really an answer the creator is looking for.)
However, by now, I'd hope it is pretty clear that whatever method you may use, with a little know how, it's certainly feasible. |

It's quite possible to get to 20 in 2 days only using henchman or PUGs, although difficult, especially if you're on your first playthrough. Most of the missions can be beaten on the first try if you've completed them before and have a decent character build. You could do 10 missions with their bonuses in 10 hours or less then just skip the rest and run to Sanctum Cay. Do the Sanctum Cay mission then all 3 of the ascension missions. After that you defeat your mirror image and automatically become level 20. The hardest part in doing this is the ascension missions, especially if you're level 15 or less. Need a bit of luck to find a good PUG to get you through them, or a good strategy to beat them with henchman.
If you just constantly do missions+bonuses you will be getting a ton of xp from that, plus you'll constantly be killing monsters. I believe that you could get to 20 in 2 days just from mainly doing those. Difficult and time-consuming for your first playthrough, but you could easily grind to 20 if you fight monsters higher level than you and do the missions. |

i got to the desert solo (henchies only - no guild help) at level 11.
i was definitely <30 hours at that point. this is the path i wrote myself to get the best armor asap: do all pre-searing quests, then academy mish run to piken square run to nolani nolani mish to yaks run to borlis pass borlis mish to frost gate frost gate mish to beacons perch run to gates of kryta run to bergen hot springs run to temple of ages run to fishermans haven run to sanctum clay sanctum mish to amnoon oasis run to elona reach/dunes of despair/thirsty river ascend to dragons lair dragons lair mish to droknars forge the trick is, if you go via temple of ages (not easy i can tell you), you can get a party of 8 henchies all quite high level. this makes the run to fishermans - sanctum a lot easier, and the subsequent mission as well. so you can get to the desert at low level (i left academy at level 7, so only gained 4 levels getting to desert in post searing). after that you really do need help, someone has to run you through those ascension missions or atleast find some decent PUGs. also note that i had hardly any skills, basically just what you get from pre-searing, that makes it really hard, but my reasoning was - the more quests i DONT do before ascension, the more i can do afterwards and hence the more skillpoints i can easily acquire from quest XP. here's a tip if you have guildmates or friends to run you through - take mesmer as secondary no matter what (change it later), because it makes the mirror fight piss easy. if you dont have guildmates or friends to run you through - take monk as secondary no matter what (change it later), because you need that extra support for your henchies. |

whats the fun in finishing the game so fast
i played 120 hours on my 1st character,w/e(did a lot of pvp with him lately) and about 43 hours with my 2nd character, mo/w...and i have to say that it seems that a monk lvls so much faster...or perhaps it is cause i know the game quite well now :P |
